Safe, Effective Veterinary Surgery for pets in Hillside, Elmhurst & Westchester IL
Hillchester Animal Hospital provides comprehensive surgical services for our canine and feline patients. We commit to the highest standards of care for surgery patients and our state-of-the-art surgical suite allows us to perform a wide variety of procedures.
Veterinary Surgery & Anesthesia
Whether your pet is undergoing a routine procedure, such as spay or neuter, or a more serious or complex surgery, patient safety is our top priority. Modern anesthetics are safer for our patients than those used in the past. Every surgery patient receives a thorough physical examination and blood work, to determine the level of risk before we administer anesthetics.
Throughout surgery, IV fluids support the patient and we use anesthetic protocols tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Our assistant constantly monitors patient vital signs including heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. This monitoring is continued until the patient is alert and fully recovered from anesthesia.
Some of the surgical services we perform at Hillchester Animal Hospital include:
- Spay and neuter
- Soft tissue surgery
- Orthopedic surgery
- Exploratory, therapeutic, and corrective procedures
- Laser, micro laser, and endoscopic laser services
Pre– and post-surgical pain management plans are implemented to support the comfort and healing of all patients. If needed, post-surgical hospitalization includes daily veterinary exams, medications and fluid therapy, complete nursing care and patient monitoring, and advanced diagnostics.
You may request additional surgical procedures be performed during a scheduled surgery under anesthesia, such as dental cleaning or microchipping. These add-on procedures must be discussed and approved by the veterinarian in advance of any surgery.
Veterinary Laser Surgery
Technology in our surgery suite includes the surgical laser. Benefits of the surgical laser include:
Seals small blood vessels as it cuts
Seals nerve endings and lymphatics for less swelling and pain
Reduced risk of infection
Kills bacteria for a sterilizing effect
Quicker recovery time
Reduced risk of infection with less bleeding, swelling, and pain supports rapid recovery
This advancement in veterinary medicine is used for a variety of our soft tissue procedures, such as spay and neuter. Contact our hospital to discuss the benefits of laser surgery for pets.
